It was a very busy and exciting week at our school!
On Thursday, we held our annual Terry Fox Run. We have set a school goal of raising $1,000 in honour of Terry Fox and his legacy. We still have fundraising opportunities available, and we encourage you to talk with your child about what they learned about Terry Fox and the importance of supporting such a meaningful initiative. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.
We also held our first School Council and CHEFS meeting of the year. Thank you to all who attended. During our Annual General Meeting, new executive members were elected. Congratulations to Janette Ryan, who will serve as our School Council Chair, and Jody Remple, who was elected Vice-Chair. Janette Ryan is our new President of CHEFS and Amanda Hewlett is our Vice President. We look forward to working alongside our School Council and CHEFS as important partners and stakeholders within our school community.
On Friday, our school community came together for the highly anticipated Colour Run fundraiser. It was wonderful to see so many families and community members supporting this important initiative for our future playground project, which is scheduled to be built in the summer of 2027. Events such as this would not be possible without our dedicated volunteers, School Council, CHEFS, and the student leadership team from North Trail. Participants enjoyed running through vibrant clouds of colour and sampling delicious food from local food trucks. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success!
I would also like to welcome Mrs. Melissa Pobee, our new Library Assistant. Mrs. Pobee brings many years of library experience and will be working alongside staff in our Learning Commons. We are excited to have her join our team and help create an inviting and welcoming space for all members of our school community.
A reminder that individual school picture day takes place on Monday, September 21. Students will have their photos taken throughout the school day, and this will not interfere with their regular learning, physical education, or music classes. Please watch for information from Lifetouch regarding photo proofs and ordering. Orders are completed online, and families are encouraged to meet the ordering deadlines to ensure timely delivery.
We are also looking forward to our Meet the Teacher Open House on Thursday, September 24. Families who have registered through the online link are invited to attend. This event provides an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and grade team in a presentation format. Sessions are 45 minutes long and will run between 4:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Families with multiple children will have the opportunity to attend different grade-level sessions. Important information about classroom routines, learning expectations, and school procedures will be shared. If you are interested in volunteering at the school, Ms. Dalton, Mrs. Baker, and members of School Council will be available to assist with volunteer registration.
Finally, please note that Friday, September 25 is a non-instructional day for students. Staff will be engaged in professional learning activities, and there will be no classes.
