Traffic Safety
Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.
Traffic Safety Reminders from The City of Calgary
The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Parents and guardians are reminded not to park where it’s prohibited during drop off and pick up times, such as blocking crosswalks, laneways and private driveways.
Pick up and drop off times can get quite busy. Give yourself extra time to navigate safely around schools, whether you are walking, wheeling, or driving. For those who drive, help alleviate congestion by parking a block or two away and walking in, wherever possible.
Talk to your kids about safe travel practices like using crosswalks with patrols, looking all ways before crossing the street and not jaywalking across the roadways as a shortcut.

Parking and Hug & Go
Street and Parking Safety
Student safety extends beyond our school building and includes the areas surrounding the school. Please help us keep students safe by following these important guidelines:
- Park only in designated parking areas. Be kind to our neighbours and do not block driveways. Do not park too close to corners as our students cannot cross safely. The school parking lot is designated for our staff to come and go freely.
- The area on the west side of the school is a loading zone. We ask parents to use this area for a maximum of 10 minutes.
- Please do not make U-turns at crosswalk intersections.
- The front of our school is a bussing zone for our school and daycare busses and need to remain clear for easy traffic flow.
- Follow all posted traffic signs and be mindful of students, staff, and crossing pedestrians.
Thank you for Counsellor Andrew Yule who worked to install the speed bump on Coventry Hills Way to slow down traffic in front of our school. In addition, thank you to our Traffic Committee. By working together, we can create a safe arrival and dismissal experience for all students. Enjoy the beautiful weather and take the opportunity to walk to school.
Students in Grades 1 through 5 can be dropped off in the unofficial Hug & Go Zone at the east end of Coventry Hills Way just before the bussing Zone. We expanded the bussing zone to accommodate more busses so the official HugNGo zone was removed. Children dropped off in the Hug & Go Zone then proceed to the back of the school where they may play under teacher supervision until the bell rings. This method of drop off is a convenient alternative to trying to find parking at this very busy time of day.
Playground Supervision
There is no teacher supervision before 8:30 AM.
Children are expected to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before bell times in the morning and afternoon.
There is no supervision at dismissal time outside the school at 3:25 PM. Students exit the building out their designated grade door. Parents are expected to arrive on time to the meeting spot they intend to pick up their children. Children are advised to report to a staff member if they cannot find their parent.
