January 8 Principal's Message

Dear Coventry Families,

Happy New Year! School resumes on Monday, January 8th.  We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break and had a chance to take advantage of the beautiful weather.  This week it looks like the cold weather is on the way so please ensure your child is dress for cold weather as the students continue to go outside in weather up to -20 degrees Celsius.  Students will be best prepared if they have warm boots, snow pants, coats, hat, mitts and some sort of face covering such as a scarf.  If it is colder than   -20 degrees, students will be staying inside during their lunch and recess times. In addition, we encourage parents to use our HugNGo drop off zone at the beginning of the day and students can go to the nearest door as they will be open as of 8:30 am to let students in during the extreme cold weather. On our “Blue Days” students can enter the school at any door in order to get out of the wintery elements.

We are welcoming several new support staff members that will be joining our staff in January. Ms. Thawer, Ms. Syed and Ms. Tauseef will be supporting a variety of students and their learning in various grades.

Family Literacy Day is January 27th. Every year, we spend the week celebrating and acknowledging the importance of literacy.  This year the theme for family literacy is “Let’s have a party.”   Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. We will be sharing more information about the events taking place during the week of January 22 to 26th
