Dear Coventry Families,
The weather has turned cold and frosty this week. With the cold weather forecast, we ask the students to come dressed for the weather because as soon as it warms up above -20 Degrees Celsius, students will be going outside for fresh air and an opportunity to play. A reminder to families that on these extremely cold days, students can enter any of our doors in the morning as they are considered “blue” days any time after 8:30 am. We monitor weather conditions through the weather application attached to our school website. Our HugNGo is available for dropping off students close to either the office doors and/or grade 5 doors. It is a great place to quickly pull in and drop off your child safely. A little reminder to not pull into the bussing zone as this is reserved for several daycare buses that service our school.
This week we have some exciting events scheduled. We are continuing with our Readathon until February 28th. Teachers will continue to upload reading minutes in their classrooms for anyone who is needing to track the information for their pledges. Thank you to all those who are supporting this very important fundraiser.
Thursday, February 6th we will host Evergreen Theatre. They will be performing the play, Alice’s Alberta Energy Adventure which is connected to our new science curriculum. Thank you to CHEFS for sponsoring this event for our students. We have two performances scheduled for students to attend the production in smaller groups.
Friday, February 7th is an opportunity for parents to come and learn about the acquisition of the reading and writing process for children. Ms. Dalton and Mrs. Baker will be hosting “Coffee and Connect” session this Friday at 12:00pm. This month, the topic is “The Reading and Writing Connection.” Come and learn about how your child is learning to read and write. This session is geared towards all our students, Kindergarten to Grade 5 inclusive. Please sign up using the following link Coffee and Connect Sign Up. We look forward to providing information as well as answering questions parents may have. We are hosting Coffee and Connect as another way for our parents to learn about our school and to partner with parents as they are a major stakeholder in our work with the students.
Wednesday, February 13th, individual grade teams/classrooms will be acknowledging Valentine’s Day in many ways. Just a reminder to families, that we do not share food products of any sort due to food restrictions and allergies. If you are wanting to send something in for the classrooms that is not food, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher. In addition, check for information on the Google Classroom regarding the events your child’s classroom will be participating in.
