Dear Parents,
Happy New Year. January is a special time of year for our students after they return from break. I am always amazed at our youngest learners and the how suddenly they demonstrate such growth in their literacy skills, and they become sponges filled with new skills. For our older learners, they fall back quickly into routine and are eager to diligently take on their learning in various ways.
Our Winter Wonderland Winter Celebration was a great hit, and families enjoyed themselves as they created messages of gratitude and hope for those in need. Thank you to School Council/CHEFS for their continued support of our evening. We will continue to support the Coventry Hills Free Little Pantry for food donations as we know many families are facing food scarcity.
This month Coventry Hills School Council is hosting the meeting on Thursday, January 23rd at 6:30 pm as a virtual meeting. Parents can click the following link Join the meeting now. We are hoping this makes it more accessible for more parents to join us. We invite all parents to attend from the comfort of their homes and to learn more about our school. We look forward to connecting with our parent community during this time.
As this is a new year, we begin to think about fall of 2025 and our new Kindergarten students who will be joining our school community. Kindergarten registration begins online on Monday, January 13th. All the information for registration is on our school website and families can click the link to register in School Engage. Coventry Hills School runs the kindergarten program in morning and afternoon class designations. We do not have alternating days. Parents are invited to put a preference of either the morning or the afternoon class. The preference chosen is not necessarily a guarantee as we prioritize balancing our classes according to criteria including class size. If you have a child who will be 5 by December 31, they are eligible for Kindergarten. We encourage families to register as soon as possible so that we can be well prepared with accurate student numbers for September. If your child is currently in Kindergarten, they are automatically enrolled into Grade One if you live within the designated area for our school.
Sincerely,
Benita Dalton
